Digital Extremes has officially named Warframe's Fall 2026 update Iceblade of Narin. The studio is still keeping much of the story behind a very frosty curtain, but the outline is already substantial: Narin, the female ice-based 66th Warframe, a long-awaited Banshee rework, two Deluxe Collections, Citrine Prime Access, and more still to be announced.
More information will be revealed during Devstream #197 on September 4th. Until then, here is everything Digital Extremes has confirmed, what it could mean, and what remains unknown.
A bridge to Tau, not the Tau update itself
Iceblade of Narin is positioned as the Fall 2026 update arriving before players leave the Origin System for Tau.
That makes it look like a bridge update: substantial enough to introduce a new Warframe and several major additions, but deliberately placed as the last stop before Warframe begins its next large journey. Tau remains the bigger destination later in 2026.
The title now has a clear connection to Narin, the update's new ice-based Warframe. What “Iceblade” means within the story—and what role Narin will play before the journey to Tau—remains under wraps. This is probably the moment to enjoy the title instead of constructing a twelve-board lore conspiracy with red string.
Winter is coming for Warframe's next frame
Iceblade of Narin will introduce Narin, the game's 66th Warframe. She is a female, ice-based Warframe, giving the update's frozen title a much clearer face even though her full design and gameplay kit have not yet been detailed.
Her elemental theme opens plenty of possibilities for crowd control, defense, and the kind of cold-status interactions that can reshape a weapon build, but her exact abilities, signature equipment, and acquisition method remain unknown. Those details—not her name or theme—are now the real reveal still waiting in the wings.
The timing is also interesting. Narin arrives immediately before the journey to Tau, which could make her a self-contained addition or a narrative handoff into the new system. Both possibilities fit Warframe; neither has been confirmed. Devstream #197 should give her reveal some much-needed shape.
Banshee gets a rework — and a new nightmare

Banshee is receiving a gameplay rework and her first Deluxe Collection since 2016. Digital Extremes says the rework will improve her sound-based abilities and overall playability, but has not published individual ability changes or numbers.
That wording leaves the size of the rework open. Banshee can already produce enormous damage and has a strong sound-based identity, but parts of her kit have aged unevenly as Warframe has become faster and more crowded. A rework that preserves her precision while making her less awkward in current missions would be a welcome result.
The Deluxe Collection takes her in a dark, nocturnal direction. Designed by community artist Mischka, the collection draws on nightmare imagery and nocturnal motifs, giving Banshee a darker interpretation without losing her sound-driven identity.
Qorvex goes gothic

Qorvex is the second Warframe receiving a Deluxe Collection. His original design turns concrete, containment, and Entrati machinery into a walking reactor. The new collection keeps the monumental silhouette but shifts toward gargoyles and gothic architecture.
That pairing feels unusually natural. Qorvex already looks like a defensive structure that became impatient and started walking; apparently the next step was to put the cathedral on the defensive structure. Digital Extremes has confirmed a skin and related customizations, with exact bundle contents still to come.
Citrine Prime Access

Citrine is next in line for Prime Access. Her crystalline design is an obvious match for prime ornamentation, and the first image shows gold worked into a much more elaborate silhouette.
Citrine Prime will arrive alongside prime versions of her signature weapons: Steflos Prime and Corufell Prime. Steflos is her distinctive shotgun, while Corufell is the heavy scythe whose heavy attack transforms it into a gunblade. Their prime variants should carry the usual upgraded presentation, with exact stats still to be revealed.
Prime Accessories will also launch with Citrine Prime through her Prime Access bundles. Digital Extremes has not yet detailed the accessory lineup, bundle prices, or exact release date. As usual, Citrine Prime, Steflos Prime, and Corufell Prime should become earnable through the Relic system once released, while prime accessories are tied to the paid Prime Access offerings.
What has not been announced
As of August 28th, these details remain unconfirmed:
- Narin's role in the story
- Narin's abilities, signature equipment, and acquisition method
- The story premise or quest requirements
- Banshee's specific ability changes
- The Deluxe Collection bundle contents
- Citrine Prime's weapons and accessories
- An exact Fall 2026 release date
- Platform-specific launch details or patch size
That distinction matters because rumor can quickly start dressing like a leak. The responsible version of “everything we know” is shorter than the exciting version, but it is also less likely to age like milk left beside an Orb Vallis heater.
Riven Mods are getting more control
Creative Director Rebecca Ford and Design Director Pablo Alonso used Devshorts #115 and #116 to preview substantial changes to the Riven system coming with Iceblade of Narin.
Players will be able to combine existing Riven stats into new stats that cannot appear through normal cycling. The combinations are fixed rather than random—for example, Cold plus Heat produces Blast—and players can choose the result when more than one valid combination is available. Combining stats will use a new resource earned from upcoming hard content.
A second change lets players lock one stat before cycling, preventing that stat from changing during a reroll. Digital Extremes initially showed a separate placeholder resource for locking, but Devshorts #116 revised the plan: locking will use Kuva, allowing existing stockpiles to remain useful.
The details are still being tuned. Digital Extremes is considering limiting each Riven to one combined stat because reaching the theoretical maximum of three would be extremely rare and could make players feel pressured to chase an unrealistic roll. The studio has asked for feedback, and all of these mechanics remain subject to change before release. More acquisition details are expected during Devstream #197.
Devstream #197: When and where to watch
Digital Extremes has specifically directed players to Devstream #197 for more information about Iceblade of Narin. The stream will be broadcast live from TennoVIP: Seoul in South Korea on September 4th at 8 p.m. KST.
For viewers watching live on Warframe's Twitch channel, that is:
- 4 a.m. PT
- 7 a.m. ET
- 12 p.m. BST
- 8 p.m. KST in Seoul
It is an unusually early broadcast for North American viewers, so setting a reminder may be worthwhile. The stream is the next major checkpoint for details about Narin's abilities, Banshee's changes, the Deluxe Collections, Citrine Prime Access, the Riven rework, and possibly a release window.
